As a professional and business owner, Jena McShane has cultivated an instantly recognizable style. She is perhaps most well known for her zombie and vintage pin-up series, unique street photography and storm and landscape work.
Jena has repeatedly been voted as a Lansing City Pulse "Top of the Town" Photographer for the past 10 years. She was the official photographer for Lansing’s premier roller derby league, the Lansing Derby Vixens, and generously volunteers her time with local nonprofits such as the Firecracker Foundation.
Her work appears in National Rock Review where she was recently named assistant photo editor. This role has given Jena the opportunity to photograph and cover some of rock’s greatest legends including Rush, Alice Cooper and Motörhead.
Jena’s adventurous spirit has also led her to a passion for storm chasing. She loves capturing the beauty and raw power of storms both in Michigan and throughout the Midwest. She has ventured through Tornado Alley with the National Weather Service on several occasions where The Weather Channel featured several of her images.
Her diverse body of work and characteristic style has resulted in Jena becoming one of Mid-Michigan most sought after and respected photographers. She is an artist whose work is informed by compassion and empathy for the beautiful spaces and subjects she is charged with conveying to the world.
One of the most frequent compliments she receives is for her ability to capture the emotion and true spirit of her subject. Whether the focal point is a rock concert, bride and groom, pets, children, a local business, a storm or a field of golden wheat, Jena’s passion always expresses itself through her work.
